Hispanic Dating: Turn up the charm!
Yesterday, I began researching Hispanic dating. Basically, my methodology consisted of researching anything that had something to do with Hispanic dating, and surprisingly enough, my “Draconian” methodology worked. The inspiration came as I skimmed across the content of a Hispanic dating website. It said, “Latin women are known for their inner beauty, grace, charm and loyalty that most men find irresistible.” I stewed over the sentence for a moment. I thought, Are Latin women truly more charming that their North American counterparts (not counting Latinos that live in North America) and if so, what is it exactly that makes them charming? And! Why is it that Latin men are also known for their charm? Is the Hispanic dating process just one big charm fest? If so, let’s get the charm recipe! Watch Out…..She’ll Charm You What is charm? It’s interesting that charm (esp. the physical object) is often associated with magic. Although……..when you stop to consider someone who is really charming, they do seem to possess a sort of magical quality. Listed below are 5 ways to turn up the charm and ponder over Hispanic dating---a cultural custom which may become a social phenomenon for “charmless” daters across the world. Hispanic Dating Tip #1: Dress to Impress There is no doubt that people who are charming have confidence. It is a good sort of confidence--not cockiness--just a confidence that opens itself to the world and says, “I’m here and I’m a wonderful person.” There is probably also no question in people’s minds that what we wear can have a direct influence on our level of confidence and the way that we present ourselves to others. After all, if you are wearing a stunning outfit that you reserve only for special occasions, your personality will automatically be transformed—or at least confidently amplified—during any social event. With a new outfit my friends, the charm will emanate off of you like steam from a faucet! “So what is the application to Hispanic dating,” you might ask. Well, when I lived in Guatemala, I noticed that Latin women like to dress to impress. It is not uncommon to see women in the grocery store or out on the street in high stiletto heels. It isn’t unusual (esp. if you have the money) to get your hair done every 2 weeks—not to mention your nails. The point it that they care about their appearance and perhaps it is that care for personal appearance that may have something to do with the “charm-rumor” that seems to surround Latin women. Hispanic Dating Tip #2: Laugh Out Loud Okay, so you don’t want your laugh to be obnoxiously loud, and not all Latinos have a good sense of humor, but almost anyone can probably tell you that Latinos are very good natured overall and good humored as a societal group in general. There is nothing quite like a confident smile and a confident laugh to really help turn up the charm. Hispanic Dating Tip #3: Share Yourself My co-worker, who married a Latina, says that he thinks most Latin women are good cooks. I’m not sure the compliment applies to every Latina but I did choose to mesh his comment into a broader principle: Share your talents. I don’t know about you but I am very charmed by those who are effortlessly willing to share their talents in front of others. Whether they share a tasteful joke, play in a jazz band, role out the karaoke or cook their magnum opus, they are willing to share and perform and there is no doubt that a sharer, when sharing effectively, can really be very, very charming. Hispanic Dating Tip #4: Casually Converse but Leave Your Ear Wide Open Now, I’m not saying that Latinos are better listeners than those of us in the United States, but most people would agree that Latinos in general enjoy casual/social conversation more than some other cultures. The ability to casually converse, and even better, the ability to listen with interest is what makes charming people irresistible. But, you wonder, “How can I gain a real interest in others? I am usually bored with casual conversation.” Try setting aside some extra time for purely social engagements. Even if the time is spent quietly at home with your family, set it aside and you will notice that a friendlier, relaxed and more easily intrigued side of your personality will emerge. Hispanic people, in general, also seem to be good at reserving precious time for family and friends. All work and too little play makes for a very “charmless” society. Hispanic Dating Tip #5: A Willingness to Serve Charming people also seem to be willing to serve others. No, they don’t prostrate themselves at the foot of other people. They simply know what their time constraints are and can accept and reject responsibilities… responsibly. Latinos also seem to demonstrate a brotherly kindness or close social network that is very charming of itself. Perhaps the Hispanic dating is the kind of dating we could all benefit from emulating.
