Everyday we are faced with challenges. To really live life to its fullest, understanding oneself is imperative. Day in day out we are reacting to various different situations. To go into this we have to understand knowledge. Knowledge is limited, sure you can acquire more, but even in the acquisition of more you are still limited. You are to a degree what you know. Your reactions and judgments will be based on this.

No one denies that knowledge is necessary but what is even more necessary is the understanding of knowledge. Knowledge breeds a certain arrogance, and this arrogance can lead to less intelligence. Knowledge has the tendency to prejudge or judge as a whole, preventing listening.

Today is a new day and yesterday is old. What works today may not work tomorrow. To even begin to acquire knowledge you need to learn. To really learn you have to set knowledge aside, you must experiment. That is why when we are younger we learn far more, because as we get older we judge what we are doing and as a consequence only adapt according to what we already know. Everyday we are consumed with what we know, reacting constantly to different situations that arise throughout our day.

Even in learning you will apply a certain amount of what you know. You must know where the mountain is in order to climb it. You may train for it using certain knowledge. However the climb itself will bring a whole new set of challenges and experiences.

Understand the relative nature of knowledge. You do according to what you know. What you now know is past and tomorrow is a whole new day. If you get really caught up in knowledge, then tomorrow becomes just like today. The same old, same old. You cannot learn something new if you are caught up in the old.

Again lets be clear, we need knowledge, however intelligence has far more involved in it that just the factors of knowledge. Intelligence is understanding, and understanding does not prejudge. Understanding is living and embracing the new day with humility and observation with the freedom of an empty mind.
