Online Dating; Are You Thinking, Considering and Contemplating When Actually You Should Just Do It
You know that you've been single for far too long when your even your best friend is trying to set up with well meaning blind dates for you despite your protests. But getting back onto the dating scene, and especially trying something new like online dating, can be quite daunting. It's quite understandable and you are not alone, however it is worth facing up to your fears and taking the plunge and once you have done it you'll probably wonder why you didn't do it ages ago! Here are some of the most common concerns we hear;
What if I meet someone and it goes wrong? You'd never embark on anything if you looked at it this way! There is no reason to assume that a relationship that develops from online dating has any greater or lesser reason to work than any other relationship. It's always a consideration when you open yourself up to someone new but it is a risk worth taking as it's the only way you'll ever find a true and lasting relationship. Like many things in life a little belief and confidence is required!
I haven't got over my ex yet; If you have been involved in a relationship then moving on can be difficult and is something you should give time to. However moping around feeling sorry for yourself will not help you get over things any better than going out with the first person you meet and spending an entire date talking about your ex will. Online dating is a good way to take your first tentative steps back onto the dating scene, it's anonymous until you choose for it not to be and there is no pressure. You can engage in as much, or as little activity as you choose.
Nobody will want me; Feeling negative about yourself is not uncommon but it is unnecessary. There is definitely someone for everyone and online dating significantly increases your chance of meeting someone simply because of the sheer numbers of people who are online dating. Everybody is lovable and has qualities to attract a partner it's just a question of seeing yourself more objectively that's all.
I don't have the time for online dating; If you have the time to read articles like this one then you have time for online dating. It needn't be that time consuming and you can do it whenever you want, even in your pyjamas at 11pm! The most important thing is to decide you are going to give online dating a go and the time will make itself available and I'm sure you'll be glad it did.
I can't write my online dating personal ad; Even if you are not a natural writer creating an interesting and unique dating personal shouldn't be impossible. There is plenty of advice available to help you create a personal ad that really stands out and with word processing tools there are no excuses for poor spelling or grammar.
And no, the cat does not count as a meaningful relationship either! Seriously it's easy to put off something new, that you've never tried but there really is no time like the present. You could make a million excuses and never do anything or you could just give it a go and be like lots of other people who find great, lasting relationships when they try online dating!
