Furyk briefly tied Woods at the 12th hole, but Tiger approached from 105 yards landing close enough for a tap-in birdie at the 13th. This birdie allowed Woods to take a two-shot lead at the 15th hole leaving Furyk behind and practically assuring Woods the victory of the Buick Open for the second time.
Vijay Singh had won the last two Buick Opens. This tournamentís victory would have been his third straight and four overall but instead he closed with a 70 to tie for 11th at 17 under.
