Keeping the romance alive!
Wedding planning can be a very stressful time in anyone’s life and it is all too easy to get caught up in at all. There is so much to organise and sort out – the church, the venue, the invitations, the dress, the flowers, the band…..the list is endless! In amongst all the planning and arranging it is all too easy to forget about each other and remember why you are getting married in the first place. So, in order to keep happy and stay in love in the run-up to the wedding, here are a few ways you can do it….
Make time for each other! This may mean having a date once a week where you do something together. It’s often a good idea to go out somewhere so that you can both make a physical effort with your appearance. If you are on a budget, go for a lunchtime meal [which is often cheaper] or take a picnic on a nice long walk. Promise each other that wedding planning is strictly a taboo subject and must not be mentioned! Take the time just to be together and enjoy each other’s company.
Do something romantic! Even though you probably have lots of romance incorporated into your wedding plans, do something spontaneous that is not wedding related. You could send your partner a love letter with 10 reasons why you love them or send them a bunch of flowers. Why not run them a hot bath and make a special meal when they come home from work? Or, you could send a string of cute little text messages to let them feel loved. Whatever you do, just think of something that is different and unexpected!
Dig out the old photos! Spend an evening with your partner and bottle of wine. Dig out a box of old photos and talk about happy times that you have shared together. You could make a collage of photos and present it in a clip frame. It will give you both the opportunity to talk about all the great times you have had together as you look forward to loads more when you are married.
Book a mini break. If you have a bit of money that hasn’t been allocated to something wedding related, why don’t you book a last minute weekend away somewhere? There are lots of cheap out-of-season flight deals available or you could go to somewhere in your own country. It will be a great time for you both to be together away from all the wedding planning activities. If you have wedding deadlines approaching or wedding payments looming whilst you are away, you can ask a bridesmaid or best man to help you out.
