Herbs and their Curative Power
Herbs are plants and their Products that can be used as Medicines. There are a wide variety of Herbal preparations that can be used to cure a range of illnesses. The use of herbs for treatment of diseases and ailments date very early in History and is the clear forerunner of the Modern Medicine.
We can use herbs for the benefits of their Medicinal and therapeutic value, so this is called Herbal Medicine. Substances related to inorganic Compounds can be found in Herbal Plants and when they are consumed by a Person they react as a Medicine and give relief to diseases.
From ancient times the methodology of Herbal Medicines was used by our Ancestors. There are many evidences for how they used these Herbal Medicines. Even in the modern times also this plays a great role in People’s medicines. Our Ancestors also discovered the other benefits from Herbs like Cure for diseases, food, shelter and clothing.
Many common drugs that we are using nowadays are derived from Herbal Plants only. From various sources we come to know that one basic element from Herbs forms part of some of prescribed Drugs.
A WHO report says that nearly 80% of World’s population currently uses Herbal Medicines in one or the form toward their healthcare. Herbal Medicine is the root of these medicines: in the Medical systems of Native American Indian medicine, Traditional Oriental Medicine, Naturopathic, Homeopathic and Ayurvedic Medicine
Nowadays we are using Herbs in Medications for High Blood Pressure, Heart Diseases, Asthma, Pains and in various other problems .In treatment of Asthma and other respiratory problems Ephedrine- Active ingredient in Ephedera, an Chinese herb, is used.
Likewise, The Foxglove Plant also leads a way in Modern Medicine. The powdered leaf of this plant takes a great part in stimulating Cardiac digitalis and gives relief to heart patients. Among the various Herbal treatments Traditional Chinese Herbalism, Ayurvedic Herbalism and Western Herbalism are the popular ones now. Ayurvedic and Chinese Herbalism are already developed in an advanced stage to treat various health disorders. But Western Herbalism has not yet achieved that Goal and remains not well developed.
Some of the Ayurvedic Herbs are really very successful in reducing Diabetes and Cholesterol levels. After the success of St.John’s Wort instead of Prozac for mild depression the use of herbal medicines are numberless. Even now in the United States
Ginseng and Ginkgo Balboa herbs became very popular because of their vast curing effects.
