Starting a conference call Is As Easy As Picking Up The Phone
Q. I’m looking for a cheap way to have conference calls with 10 to 25 people at a time, looking on the web for a conference call provider just confused me. I don’t want all of the extras out there. Just a simple telephone conferencing service that is easy to use. What should I search for?
A. Dear Cheap, I completely understand your frustration. Searching the web for a conference call provider is easy, you will get about half a million listing for companies offering the newest bells and whistles and you are made to feel like you are wasting your time unless you are using every conferencing service available.
To cut through all the fat you need to find a company that can offer you three things:
1) Easy Calling options
2) cheap rates
3) the option to use just your telephone
By knowing exactly what you are looking for you can cut through all the extras. Look for a company that makes joining a meeting as simple as calling a toll free number from your telephone. For security purposes they should offer a pass code that either the participants enter through their telephone or they give to an operator. Either way it should be a very simple process.
You don’t need people getting stressed and frustrated before even joining the meeting. Next if your goal is to keep things cheap, I can stress enough just how important it is that you know exactly how much you are paying per person.
So a flat fee should be very clearly stated prior to even signing up for the services. Last but most likely most important on your list is the interface. Not every company out there is going to benefit from web conferencing, so the conference call company should clearly show their dedication to provider a quality phone conference call system.
If they seem to be pushing web conferencing quite a bit you may be better served elsewhere.
