MySpace Music is NOT Selling Out
The word on the street is that some musicians and bands believe that MySpace music is a sell-out for musicians but that is nothing further from the truth. All over forums and chat rooms people are complaining about musicians selling-out by joining MySpace.
Honestly, if there is an easier avenue to fame, my question is, why not take it? Why should you spend hours sweating and slaving over work that can simply be accomplished or minimized by creating one simple page online? Thatís just it, you shouldnít. MySpace music isnít complex and it isnít just for teenagers, everyone uses it!
MySpace for bands is a simple and effective route to take if you are looking to reduce the blood, sweat and tears of marketing your band or music to the outside world. Seriously, MySpace music reaches tens of millions of people and that is a fact! How does that constitute you selling out as a musician? In my opinion, it does not.
So, what constitutes MySpace for musicians as a sell-out? A sell-out to what? What does that mean? Are you selling-out by taking short cuts or by conforming to societyís new norm? MySpace allows users to market themselves like never before and all for FREE! If you are skeptical about MySpace music, then explore the success stories and then form your own opinions.
Using MySpace for bands and musicians, cuts out hundreds of man hours that would have been spent on proving to the public that your music is worthwhile. Walking into every club on the street, passing out flyers, begging people to attend your shows are all tasks that have been cut in half through the use of MySpace for musicians. Now you have a reference and a place to gather fans, hear their opinions, whether constructive or not, and keep in touch with your audience.
If you are still skeptical about exploring MySpace for bands or musicians, then check it out on your own. Put up a page, set your music up, add some friends and see what kind of response you get. Whatís the old saying? Donít knock something until you try it for yourself...It could possibly be one of the best things, in relation to publicity, you could ever do for your band or career, hands down.
