Find the right gas job
When you search gas jobs, you do it because you are certain that a gas job could bring you the wage you have been looking for since you don’t even remember when and because it could also come to peace with some of your principles of clean, environmental-friendly activity.
You also do it because a gas job could bring about the certainty of a stable workplace, a job steadier than others, despite the many commentaries that have been made, according to which natural gas reserves are quickly getting exhausted. No need to worry though: you can search gas jobs confidently, since the reserves of natural gas – either onshore or offshore – can guarantee the procuring of more than a sure gas job at least for what remains of this century (and not even a decade has yet elapsed from it).
However, when you search gas jobs you look for the places which could also offer you some guarantee as to future career advancing. Therefore, potential career development should not elude your considered possibilities, because career development also means better wages and safer work conditions. When you search gas jobs and you come across a gas job such as that of mudlogger you may wonder how your career will develop further along.
Mudlogging is only an entry level gas job, so your question is only commonsensical. Well, it is not uncommon that, after two to four years, a mudlogger gains the experience necessary to advance to a position of data engineer. Subsequently, even if the safety responsibilities increase with a data engineer job, advancement is registered in that your job will mostly take place in front of a computer from where you are supposed to thoroughly monitor the activity, the drilling operations executed by mudloggers.
In any case, not all those who search gas jobs instantly consider a mudlogging position. Some are aware of the fact that they have already some good years of experience in the field, so they search for another type of gas job. And despite the fact they own an impressive qualification and skill for certain tasks, they will apply for occupying them with the knowledge that there is always a possibility of career improvement.
Subsequently, even for a job like that of marketing executive – which is one of the higher-ranked jobs in the gas industry – there is the chance of development. Typically, marketing executives advance to marketing managers and even to marketing directors, but it takes from five to fifteen years of work in one position to reach a higher one. Of course, the wages are matching the efforts (and it takes quite some effort and time to properly monitor, evaluate, find the right consumers and eventually market natural gas).
Undoubtedly, workplace conditions are another issue you are concerned with when you search gas jobs. You should know that it is not uncommon for a worker in the gas industry sphere to spend time away from home for weeks and even moths, especially if the job is going to take place in offshore circumstances. So distance is one of the first “features” of a career in gas industry.
The second idea you should grow accommodated with is that the living conditions during the weeks/months you spend away from home are some of the most basic you could imagine. It is not that it is all rudimentary. But living conditions will only offer just that: a place to sleep, to eat and fit for covering other basic needs. Moreover, you will always be in very close contact with your workmates, so no need to worry about sociability issues. On the contrary, keeping in mind that work hours can be rather long, you will surely have a lot from the company of your workmates. Yes, we mentioned work hours; don’t expect eight hours per day of work. They will typically cover half of your day.
In the end, while a gas job may not be the easiest thing to do, it is, on the other hand, a well-remunerated activity. It is not fit for anybody, but rather for the worker who knows he can cope with long hours of work and with demanding – both physically and mentally – activities. The point is to look for the job that best suits you, considering also further career opportunities.
