Kingfield Electronics Expands Facility?
Derbyshire based Contract Electronics Manufacturer Kingfield Electronics are expanding their operations into adjoining premises. This will increase its manufacturing capacity by a further 3,000ft2, taking its total manufacturing capacity to 20,000ft2. The additional space gained, at its Carrwood House facility, will be used to increase the Company's rack and cabinet assembly capability, which is growing steadily despite the increasing trend towards offshore manufacturing.
Managing Director, Nick Taylor explains?
"Since 1985, Kingfield Electronics has been providing complete turnkey contract manufacturing solutions to customers operating in a number of high quality, high reliability market sectors. The assembly of complete products has always been our core business operation with PCB assembly almost being a peripheral activity. This contradicts the operation of many CEMs whose primary operation is that of circuit board assembly but who also try and offer box build services.
Being a thoroughbred box build organisation, our systems, infrastructure and people are geared around producing low and medium volume, high quality, high reliability, high complexity instrumentation to customers operating in a number of specialised and demanding market sectors.
The increase in space will provide better capability for handling large cabinet and rack assemblies, and will ultimately create between eight and ten new jobs within the organisation. Employing in excess of fifty already, it is gratifying that we are making an increasing contribution to the local economy which has suffered greatly over the last decade with the reduction in both the mining and steel industries.
We have seen a significant shift over the last five years with customers steadily moving away from assembling their own products in-house, to outsourcing this activity to an appropriate manufacturing partner. Our global supply chain lets us gain the pricing advantages of offshore suppliers whilst still offering customers the logistical benefits of having products made here in the UK.
We will continue to build on this strategy and the increases in available space will not only enable us to take on larger and more complex products, but will also allow us to increase the amount of system integration and configuration we can undertake prior to shipping product to our customers."
