What not to forget when starting a new business
Starting a new business is a very exciting venture. A mix of success and fear fills your mind. You think of all that could go right and how great things will be. You think of how big your business could grow. Maybe even get to the Fortune 500! What a day that would be. There is also a darker side in this mind of yours. What could go wrong? What if customers donít like your product or service? What if your competitors can sell at a lower price? What could happen to all the time and money that you invest in your company?
This is a very involved venture. You go out on a limb and risk a huge amount. While your mind is filled with these thoughts, you must make the necessary preparations. There are just so many things that must be done. With so many things to do it can be very easy to forget something. To help prevent this, I have compiled a list of things that could easily be forgotten, but are either necessary or at least very helpful.
Credit Card processing
As a new (or existing) business, there is one thing that is very important (possibly the most important). That is the ability to accept payment from the customer. What good would your company be if nobody could purchase your product? Cash is easily accepted, but what about credit cards? Being able to accept credit cards can increase your sales by up to 50%.
As you begin your business, you need to decide in what ways you want to accept credit cards, debit cards and checks. Will it be online, over the phone, in person or some combination? Once you decide this, you need to look at different bankcard services. There are many different options available and it is necessary to look into where you can get the best deal, because changing your bankcard service is not something that you will want to do very often. So do your homework and find out what is best for you.
A phone system is also very important to have to be able to talk with customers. You have to consider whether you want a VoIP network, or just a traditional network. It would be wise to invest in an expandable phone system. That way you can avoid risking money in a large phone system but not limit yourself to a small system. We all want our business to grow into a thriving corporation, so why not be ready for it to happen?
There are many different companies that offer expandable phone system. Some companies offer systems that you can set up yourself thus sparing time and the expense of having somebody else install the system. Anything that helps save you money is always good. Also available are systems to be able to access phone commands like voicemail and caller-ID from your computer. Technology is always giving us amazing ideas.
Document (Management) Software
Another great idea from technology is record management software. New developments have been made in software that can help make our lives even easier. These programs help track where documents are stored, what version of the document it is and even lets you send a message to tell those who have the document to delete it. It also lets you know how they acted on the message. Think of all the time that can be saved with just this one program. There is nothing more frustrating to spend hours working on a document only to find out that it wasnít the right version.
This is only a short list of things that could be forgotten. There are many other things that need to be done as well. But if you already forgot these things, it is never too late to make them right. Good luck in all your business ventures.
