About Lorem ipsum
Lorem ipsum are dummy text that acts as a placeholder to display the graphical aspect of any document. It also act as a test of how a page will look like before intended words are inserted. These text are not owned by anyone so it's a great way to avoid copyright infringement.
You would normally find this paragraph of text lying around:
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. Ut enim ad minim veniam, quis nostrud exercitation ullamco laboris nisi ut aliquip ex ea commodo consequat. Duis aute irure dolor in reprehenderit in voluptate velit esse cillum dolore eu fugiat nulla pariatur. Excepteur sint occaecat cupidatat non proident, sunt in culpa qui officia deserunt mollit anim id est laborum.
Lorem ipsum are meanless Latin, so most people wll focus on the presentation rather than read whatever is on the page.
The text is derived from Cicero's De finibus bonorum et malorum (About the Extremes of Goods and Evils, or alternatively [About] The Purposes of Good and Evil ).
Cicero's original text: "…neque porro quisquam est, qui dolorem ipsum quia dolor sit amet, consectetur, adipisci velit, sed quia non numquam eius modi tempora incidunt ut labore et dolore magnam aliquam quaerat voluptatem. Ut enim ad minima veniam, quis nostrum exercitationem ullam corporis suscipit laboriosam, nisi ut aliquid ex ea commodi consequatur? Quis autem vel eum iure reprehenderit qui in ea voluptate velit esse quam nihil molestiae consequatur, vel illum qui dolorem eum fugiat quo voluptas nulla pariatur?"
H. Rackham's English 1914 translation: "Nor again is there anyone who loves or pursues or desires to obtain pain of itself, because it is pain, but because occasionally circumstances occur in which toil and pain can procure him some great pleasure. To take a trivial example, which of us ever undertakes laborious physical exercise, except to obtain some advantage from it? But who has any right to find fault with a man who chooses to enjoy a pleasure that has no annoying consequences, or one who avoids a pain that produces no resultant pleasure?"

About The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog
This sentence finds itself in many of the test fonts, keyboards or typewriters because it's short, most sensible and contains all the letters in the English alphabet. We usually call these pangrams.
To see for yourself:
1. Navigate to the control panel
2. Open up the Fonts folder, if you're running WinXP, click on the option on the left to switch to classic view
3. Double-click on any font you like.
About asdf
"asdf" is the sequence of letters that appear on the first four keys on the home row of a QWERTY or QWERTZ keyboard. They are often used as a sample or test case or as random, meaningless nonsense. It is also a common learning tool for keyboard classes, since all four keys are located on Home row. asdf is also typed in lowercase letters most of the time.
'asdf' is a default password for some systems. Therefore the word is used in many dictionary crackers, since there is always the possibility that some user has left their password as 'asdf' by default.
The Internet has taken to the idea that many users type in the characters 'asdf' when they're not searching for anything in particular and just want to fill in a given field. If you run a search through any given search engine, you'll see many websites listed with the keyword 'asdf'.
Many Internet users who are short for time simply type in 'asdf' as their username and password to obtain quick access to the information or links that have been restricted. This has led to many websites specifically invalidating asdf@asdf.com as an email address. Many websites and forums nowadays require signing-up or registering to access a page's information or to have access to a download link.
Some online games have restricted using asdf or asdfg as a password, as it is so easy to guess.
