Losing Weight Successfully
When it comes to losing weight and keeping it off, there are many factors that come into play. A well balanced diet, as oppose to depriving yourself from certain foods completely, is one of the most important contributing factors in weight loss. This involves allowing yourself the 'bad food' every once in a while. Remember, everything is okay in moderation.
An important thing in maintaining a balanced diet is being able to compromise with yourself. If you decide to to succumb to your cravings and eat something that contains alot of fat or calories, then you will need to take away some fat or calories somewhere else in your servings or do a little extra exercising. There are always options available to you in maintaining the balance in your weight loss program so don't beat yourself up because you enjoyed a piece of cake.
When counting calories for a weight loss plan remember that a calorie is a calorie regardless of where it comes from. All calories are the same whether from a bag of chips or from a piece of chicken so spend your calories however you'd like. The key is deciding how you would like to spend your allotted calories and sticking to that plan. However, as stated before, there are always options if you would like to substitute a few more calories for a few more minutes on the treadmill.
Here are a few things to take into consideration when you decide on how to use up your calories:
Favorite Healthy Foods
Think about the healthy foods you actually enjoy eating and work these into your meal plans first. Using the healthy foods that you like will lessen your temptation to indulge on the foods that are not as healthy. Just be careful not to eat the same things too often as you don't want to get bored of it and have to turn to the unhealthier alternatives.
Allow Some Junk
Part of eating a balanced diet is to allow yourself some junk every now and then to keep yourself sane. Make a short list of the junk foods that you simply don't wish to give up and buy these items in the smallest servings. So, if ice cream is your weak spot it's best to buy the single serving containers as oppose to the 4 litre buckets.
Your Achilles Heel
Many of us have one or two foods that we can't say no to when it's around. If you have certain foods that you have no control over, it's best to keep these out of your home and avoid them at all costs. When you do find yourself craving these foods and are tempted to take your car to the nearest convenience store, try to fill up on water as a quick relief.
