The 7 Most Important Qualities Of A Top of the Line Web Host - Part 2
In my first article, we explored the 7 things you need to make sure you receive, when you sign up for your first web hosting account. In this article we will expand on this a bit more, and give you the scoop on how "Lifetime Hosting" with everything included will make running your business a whole lot easier. Let's say you want to host a lot of different sites - maybe you are interested in a lot of different niche markets (sports, health and beauty, nutrition for example). You've probably heard that you need to set up a lot of different sites in popular niches that will generate loads of traffic and, hopefully, lots of money! They call this "multiple streams of income". Setting up even 10 niche websites with their own domain names, you could end up paying 0 or even more, just in hosting fees every single month. It won't be long before all of your profit is swallowed up in hosting fees! Not only that, but trying to keep track of all your accounts can make you crazy! With "Lifetime Hosting", you pay once to have your account set up, and you have hosting for the life of your site. Sounds good, doesn't it? It's not good . . . it's great! Now, there are lifetime hosting accounts out there that do not offer everything you will need, so you have to be careful to choose the right one. There are some lifetime hosting accounts that only offer a small amount of disk space, and hardly any bandwidth. And some do not have the tools you will need to run your business successfully. So look for these qualities, and don't accept anything less: 1) Disk space should be over 2,000 MB (or 2 gig) - the more disk space the better, as you will want room to grow. 2) Does the hosting allow you full access to your site? You must be able to upload files to your website by ftp (File Transfer Protocol. This is the language used for file transfer from computer to server across the net). You should have access to the cgi bin, as some scripts require this. You also need to know that they are running the latest software (PHP scripting language, etc.). You should also have unlimited mySQL databases, as many scripts also require them, and you don't want to be limited by the amount of scripts you can run. When it comes to control panels, Cpanel is the best and easiest I've found to work with. 3) How much bandwidth will you be allowed? Are you going to be shut down, if you go over the alloted amount. There are more and more people searching the web, and purchasing online. You will need plenty of traffic to your web sites in order to earn a decent living, so you don't want to have limits placed on your traffic. The best host will give you unlimited bandwidth, which means no problem with plenty of traffic, and you stand to earn a lot more money. 4) Are you able to add more domains to your hosting, whenever you decide on adding a new niche category? There are not a lot of hosting companies that allow addon domains at a decent price. When you're looking for a great host, make sure that you can expand your business as often as you need to. This allows you to earn even more profits in the long run. 5) Make sure that your host has, at least, a 30 day money-back guarantee. You don't want to join and pay for hosting, set up your site, and start sending traffic to it, only to find out that they are not the host for you. You'd have to switch hosts, move all of your files, and there will be downtime between switching. People who click on your link and get a "page cannot be displayed" are not likely to return at a later time to see if you're back! If you follow these rules when researching a hosting company, you will have a good base for knowing what you need, and what should be offered. Lifetime hosting has been a Godsend for me, and I know it will be for you as well.
