Lakshadweep: World’s most beautiful tropical islands
Welcome to Lakshadweep – one of world’s most beautiful tropical islands where life spring surprises at all places. Here, you can find life in full bloom all the time. These majestic islands and its serene surroundings offer tourists an ideal environment where they can relax, enjoy and have fun with nature. In Malayalam, the local language, Lakshadweep means ‘a hundred thousand islands’. All these coral islands are in the Arabian Sea, about 185 miles (300 km) off the Kerala coast. It is one of the tiniest union territories India has. These islands cover an area of 32 sq. km.
Lakshadweep is a charming isolated destination that has only 10 of its islands inhabited. They are Minicoy, Andrott, Kavaratti, Kadmat, Agatti, Amini, Kalpeni, Kitltan, Chetlat and Bitra. Out of these islands, four islands (Kavaratti, Kalpeni, Minicoy and Kadmath) are open mostly to Indian tourists and Bangaram; an uninhabited island is open to both domestic and foreign tourists.
The most beautiful thing about Lakshadweep is that it appears to visitors as a world glowing beautifully on the blue chest of Arabian Sea. The entire area gives a panoramic view. The atmosphere is cool and serene. All the islands are endowed with the beauty of coral reef, sandy beaches, clean water and hospitable settings. In recent times, Lakshadweep with its vast lagoon around all the islands has emerged as a water sports destination in the country. The water sports department has taken initiatives to make these islands a prime water sports destination not only within India but also throughout the world. But the point to note is that Government has taken utmost care in protecting the bio-diversity of this place by allowing only non-intrusive sports. So, water sports like water scooters has been deliberately kept out whereas high-yielding water sports like scuba diving, parasailing etc are being given more preference. If you love to see the immense treasure the sea around Lakshadweep possesses, then come and explore the under water world of Lakshadweep and see various kinds of life thriving and prospering.
The main aim of Government in Lakshadweep is to promote sustainable tourism. Among all islands, Kavaratti is the most developed island. It has twelve beautiful mosques that are spread all across the island. The most beautiful one is the Urja mosque. This mosque has an ornately carved ceiling believed to be carved from a piece of driftwood. In all islands that are open for tourism, you will find tourist huts, white sandy beaches, colorful lagoon and bouquet of joy. If you love exotic food, then come and relish food of this captivating place that will give you an “out-of-the-world” feeling. You can easily reach out to this place by air or water.
Come and enjoy in the land that offers a memorable escape into an isolated destination where you can have laidback lifestyle.
