Chattisgarh: A paradise unexplored
Chattisgarh is the green lungs of India where nature can be seen in full bloom. The nature here resembles a paradise unexplored. It is one of the blessed lands in the world that has so many things to show to its visitors.
Although Chattisgarh is an ancient land (referred to in ancient texts as “Dakshin Kosala”) it officially came into existence as a state in November 2000, as India’s 26th state carved out of India’s (then) largest state of Madhya Pradesh. This beautiful state is rich in mineral resources and is blessed with India’s densest forest. 44% of the land in Chattisgarh is under forest cover.
Chattisgarh has a rich history. It’s a tribal dominated state and has significantly large tribal population that is approximately 33% and it is much higher in percentage in comparison to 7.8% of the rest of India. In spite of all this, the state has a strong Hindu culture prevailing in all parts of the state. Chattisgarh has witnessed several tribal revolts from the late 18th century to the first decade of the 20th century. Some of these revolts were localized, others were more widespread. It has been seen that whenever people tried to exploit the tribals, they have always stood in revolt against the exploiters.
Chattisgarh is immensely beautiful. It is an exquisitely scenic state with two mighty rivers Indravati and Mahanadi prospering life exceedingly well. The state has 12% of India’s forests and a series of rolling hills. The Vindhyachal Mountains which cuts India into horizontally dominates the state. Vegetation in the state is dense and varied; forests stretch as far as the eye can see. The thundering waterfalls roar mightily and make way for itself through the rocks and big trees; the outcome in the form of landscape is more appealing. The hilly terrain and forests of the virgin Kanger Valley National Park in the epicenter of the tribal Bastar district has a number of ancient caves. Exploring them minutely can make you feel like Christopher Columbus. Some of the caves you should visit are Kailash Gufa, Kutumsar Cave, Kanger Valley National Park and Dandak caves. If you are a lover of nature, then come and explore Chattisgarh three national parks and 11 wildlife sanctuaries which have become a major tourist attraction these days. This beautifully composed land has several virgin attractions in the form of protected areas such as Kanger Valley National Park, Barnawapar, Sitanadi, Udanti and Achanknar sanctuaries. The endangered wild buffalo (bubalis Bubalis) and the even more endangered Hill Myna (Garculis Religiosa Peninsulars) are the state animal and state bird respectively. If you want to see more greens, then come deep inside the divine land of Bastar. You will love the serenity and laid-back lifestyle of this colorful place.
Chattisgarh is also rich in cultural heritage and has also attractive natural diversity & tour and travel in India experience.
