Liveaboard trips to Similan Islands, Hin Daeng, Hin Muang, Koh Ha, Surin Islands and Richelieu Rock, THAILAND
We saw an old friend this first dive - the Space Crab! Hes really a Giant Spearing Mantis Shrimp, but he looks weird, and has been sitting in this same hole for about 6 years! We all thought he should go out more
As always in the Similans, lots of Turtles. And the usual suspects -Batfish, Moray Eels, Stingrays and swarms of colourful fish at alldivesites!
After Similans, we went north, up to Koh Bon, the first of the island in the Surin National Marine Park. Plenty of Leopard Sharks in the deeper parts, schooling Chevron Barracudas, Batfish and hunting Tunas.
Further up north, we tried out Koh Tachais Twin Peaks. Visibility dropped a bit, so we kept a keen eye out in the blue for the big flappy guys, coming into feed on the zoo plancton. No luck today, though, but lots of fish action, including hunting Rainbow Runners, schools of Tunas, severalhuge Morays and the ever-present Batfish.
At Richelieu Rock we had the Chevron Barracudas, a massive school of Big-eye Trevallies, very active little White-eyed Morays and the usual collection of various shrimps and crabs, including my favorites - the Ghost Shrimps!
Mantas In The Mist!!! We did a sunset dive at Koh Bon, and there they were: two giant Mantas! First ones for everybody in the group, so lots of celebration beers back on the boat! Seeing these fantastic animals at dusk is truly unreal!!
Last day we dived at Boulder City and Sharkfin Reef, two exposed divesites just outside the Similans. Very pleasant conditions, and beautiful, scenic diveswith plenty of action.
Perfect conditions all the way back to Patong.
