Last-minute-travel where can it take you?
So if you’re thinking of getting away for a last minute break, just where should you go? If you’re a typical last minute customer, you’re probably looking for somewhere cheap, fun, they speak decent English and the people are friendly. With that in mind, here are a few suggestions.
Let’s start with a big hitter – New York City. If you’re a fan of city breaks, this is a great one for you. The city is tiny by area, but is packed with things to do around every corner. You can go to Broadway, see the Statue of Liberty, or just wonder around on the streets and feel cosmopolitan.
The Middle East is worth considering, especially Turkey and Egypt, two of the more Westernised countries there. They are very warm, but also quite welcoming, and you can see ancient artefacts and buildings there that stretch back millennia. Egypt’s Red Sea, with its beautiful clear waters, is a sight to behold, and a great place to go swimming in.
Warm islands like Greece’s Corfu and Spain’s Majorca are very popular right now, and with good reason. An island is a great place to go for a holiday, as wherever you stay you’re bound to be close to a beach, and there’s no shortage of bars and other entertainment. Madeira, in Portugal, is similar, but a little more laid back and upmarket – fans of fruits and flowers will feel right at home there.
If you’re looking for something a little more classic, Rome is a good bet – again, full of great ancient things to see (so many that it’s almost to see them all in a year, never mind a weekend), warm, and the locals are very friendly. Despite being such a tourist centre, Rome still feels like a small town community in many ways.
