The worlds first colour television transmission occurred in John Logie Bairds British studio back in 1928.This transmission showed some blue and red scarves and a London policeman's helmet. Also viewed was a mixed bunch of flowers, a guy poking his tongue out and the burning end of a cigarette. The first ever Televison commercial in history lasted 20 seconds and was for a product mass produced by a company known as Bulova. This corporation also made the first ever watch that went into space. The advert was aired in July 1941 and went out during a game being played by the Brooklyn Dodgers and the Philadelphia Phillies. The well known turning globe that is used by the NBC evening news show spent many years revolving in the incorrect direction. In 1984 this was eventually discovered and on January 2nd this was fixed and now the globe is revolving in the proper manner. The 1st toy ever advertised on television was the "Mr potato head" product. He was brought to the attention of millions of American TV viewers and even now can be viewed in the well known "Toy story" animated films. Way back in 1950 only 10 percent of American households had a television in their possession. By 1960 this had changed to a staggering 90 percent whilst today it is ninety nine percent with 54 percent of U.S kids having one in their bedroom.

Whilst viewing an episode of the well known Japanese animation Pokemon over seven hundred Japanese schoolkids were rushed to hospital with severe convulsions and trauma. This was caused by a ten second part in which the animations hero Pikachu flashed his large red eyes to the sound of a massive booming explosion. Some early experimental TV transmissions began long ago in 1928 by station W2XBS and featured a test figurine of the well known Felix the cat. Although these first transmissions were only showing a figurine Felix the cat he will always be able to claim his place in the TV hall of fame as the foremost genuine Televison actor.
