Motorola Razr - Taking Care of Your Phone.
Your Motorola Razr or indeed any modern cell phone is an expensive purchase. Although you may have got it for free with a long term contract, if you damage it or lose it and you need a replacement you will have to pay the full retail price to replace it. Even with insurance there are still many circumstances in which the damage won’t be covered.
There are 3 main causes of inadvertent damage to cell phones temperature, moisture and shock. With a little care and attention all these problems can be avoided. Temperature changes can not only cause the phone to stop working but it can drastically shorten the life of the battery. Often simply leaving the phone on a widow sill or on a car dashboard on a hot day can be enough to cause damage. Keep you phone away from bright sunlight and extreme cold and you will reduce the risk of damage.
Moisture is an all too frequent cause of phone failure from accidentally dropping the phone in to the sink while washing to leaving in a jeans pocket and putting through a hot wash. In the past 3 months 4 of my friends have had to buy new phones due to moisture damage. One left her phone next to the sink while doing some washing up, it got knocked in. Another placed his phone in the pocket of his raincoat during a thunderstorm…his pocket filled with water. The third left his phone in his jeans pocket and his wife washed them. The final one had his in his shirt pocket when he dropped his wallet in the toilet of the local fast food restaurant…you really don’t want to know what happened to it when he bent down to pick up his wallet!!
Finally shock can cause a lot of damage to a phone, usually by being dropped . Although many “clamshell” phones are quite robust and can survive being dropped when closed if open then a lot of damage can be done to the screen, hinge and keypad. Keeping your phone in a proper case or on a lanyard can prevent a lot of shock damage.
