Bayern Munich midfielder announces retirement
The Bayern Munich midfielder Sebastian Deisler announced his retirement from football on Tuesday January the 16th, at the age of 27 due to persisting knee damage and psychological problems while on a news conference held by Bayern.
He said “ I had no longer faith in my knee” after missing the 2006 World Cup, and being submitted into surgery for the fifth time, he says he doesn’t enjoy to play as before and he was used to give 100% on field not halves.
This German player made his debut at the age of 18 back in 1998 with the Borushia Moenchengladbach; blessed with speed and dribbling ability, he was once considered as the next great German player but his injuries and psychological problems made the dream disappear.
Deisler played for Germany for the first time in the year of 2000 and looked for a better horizon when he agreed to join Bayern Munich in 2002. After having a lot of patience with the player, Bayern’s manager Uli Hoeness felt really disappointed with the retirement idea and hoped that he changes his mind, he said “I don’t understand his decision at all but he can always come back”.
Deisler won 36 caps for Germany and scored 3 goals. He played 135 times, and scored 18 goals while playing for the Bundesliga, winning the league and Cup 3 times apiece with Bayern.
