Suppan will Become a Brewer
Jeff Suppan reached a preliminary agreement last Sunday for million. A four-year contract with the Milwaukee Brewers its being settled. According to the announcement made by the Brewers, the next step is a physical exam that the player has to pass for the deal to be completed.
The 31-year-old pitcher met with Brewers officials last Tuesday, and the team made an offer the next day, when Suppan met with New York Mets executives.
Suppan’s agent: Scott Leventhal declared that the baseball player wanted to go at his own pace and he made the decision when he felt it was the best time.
Milwaukee Brewers general manager Doug Melvin said Suppan's durability was an attraction for the team. The player has made 31 or more starts in eight straight seasons, throwing 180 or more innings each time. For the new season, Milwaukee traded Doug Davis to Arizona for Claudio Vargas, catcher Johnny Estrada and pitcher Greg Aquino so now they want a durable pitcher.
During Jeff Suppan’s career he has pitched for the Boston Red Sox (1995-97, 2003), Arizona Diamondbacks (1998), Kansas City Royals (1998-2002), Pittsburgh Pirates (2003) and St. Louis Cardinals (2004-06).
