Broncos Hope That Cutler's Game Heats Up In California!
The Denver Broncos were sitting at 7-2 just three weeks ago and held a commanding 24-7 third quarter lead over division rival San Diego when the season took a nasty turn for the worse. The Chargers reeled off 28 second half points that stunned Mike Shanahan's troops and they have been reeling ever since.
After the Charger debacle came a 19-10 loss at Kansas City and the replacement of Jake Plummer at quarterback, with rookie Jay Cutler. Last Sunday night was the debut for the rookie out of Vanderbilt and it was a disaster!
Not only did they lose 23-20 to Seattle, but Cutler looked like a deer in the headlights and his ill fated throw led to a defensive touchdown for the Chargers. Now the discombobulated Broncos head to sunny San Diego and a rematch with Rivers, Tomlinson, and the rest of Marty's boys who are sizzling with six straight wins.
Wagering on the game is available as always at the world's largest online sportsbook, www.sportsbook.com. The point spread on the game opened at San Diego -5 and has surged up to -7 and will most likely keep on moving. When a rookie QB struggles in his first start in the friendly confines of his own stadium, bettors are not too anxious in backing his team on the road.
The Charger defense is coached by Wade Phillips who had his shot at steering the ship in Denver and still has bitter feeling towards his former employer. With Shawn Merriman back at his defensive end position, Denver is in for a world of pain. San Diego can also clinch a playoff birth with a win and that coupled with a Kansas City loss would give the Chargers the division.
San Diego is unbeaten at home and 7-5 this year against the spread, while the Broncos are just 4-8 against the spread, thus the line movement by bettors.
