Red Hot Titans Are Puppies In Texas!
Most Sports bettors like to ride a hot streak and in the Tennessee Titans gamblers have sure found a best friend these days. Heading into game # 13, the Titans are 5-7 on the year, but 8-4 against the spread, including 4 straight covers, 7 of the past 8 and 8 of the past 10. Needless to say if you have been backing them all year, it is going to be an enjoyable holiday season this month.
Sportsbook.com is the world's largest online gaming company and much to my surprise they had installed the inept Houston Texans 4-8 in the standings and 5-7 against the spread as -3 point picks this Sunday. Since the line was posted Sunday night, there has been a flurry of Titans action and now the line sits at Tennessee -1.
The Titans are on a 3-game winning streak and have not exactly been playing mediocre teams, as they have knocked off Philadelphia, the Giants and the Colts and only lost to Baltimore 27-26 four weeks ago. Having beaten the Eagles and Redskins on the road in very hostile confines, would seem to indicate that they should have no problem handling the trip to Houston. Or will they?
Quarterback Vince Young is going to be avalanched with a sea of requests as he returns to his place of birth and quite frankly he is due for a poor game that usually afflicts rookie quarterbacks.
What goes up must come down and usually when a team has played several close contests and won them, the tank sometimes runs empty and that means both emotionally and physically. Tennessee has been flying under the radar, after a horrible start to the year and it is sometimes easier to play in the underdog role.
This is a good spot for the Texans as they are coming off a win in Oakland where their passing game was pathetic and they are quite good at home, having beaten Jacksonville and Miami. The only time they were a favorite was against Buffalo and they lost after being shocked in the first quarter by two 80+yard touchdown passes from Losman to Evans.
Many analysts around the league have been criticizing the Texans front office for selecting Mario Williams ahead of Reggie Bush and Vince Young in this past year's draft. This is a good spot for Houston and the over/under is 42.
