Many Subplots In Saints-Cowboys Tilt!
With all due apologies to Manchester United and the sport of soccer, the NFL continues to be the greatest Sports league in the world and they just know how to run their business right. The definition of luck someone once said was "when opportunity meets preparation" and the NFL understands this formula.
This weekend Fox television will garner a huge television audience as this years' two largest public teams, the Dallas Cowboys and the New Orleans Saints, meet in Texas. Dallas has Tony Romo and the Saints have Drew Brees. The Saints have electrifying rookie Reggie Bush and the Cowboys have TO. New Orleans is coached by Sean Payton who was Dallas' Bill Parcells offensive coordinator for several years. New Orleans is 8-4 and Dallas is 8-4, so something has to give!
Once again when Americans look to wager on sports, their destination is Sportsbook which sets the standards for online Sports Betting in this country. Sportsbook has installed the Cowboys as -6 ½ and my gut feeling is that New Orleans is going to get taken apart in this contest.
A significant suspension to defensive tackle Hollis Thomas is going to cause some major problems for New Orleans, in an attempt to stop the running tandem of Julius Jones and Marian Barber. Also they have issues at the wide receiver spot as Joe Horn as a serious groin injury and I doubt they will put the long term value of Marques Colston in jeopardy here. They also may not have defensive end Will Smith who sat out last week's game against the 49ers.
Dallas should be able to torch the Saints secondary as they have been exposed this year several times and we all know what Pittsburgh's Willie Parker did a few weeks ago on the ground. New Orleans must pick their poison, should they stack the line and then expose their defensive backs to a torching by Owens and Glenn, or take away Bono's passing game and let Dallas run the ball for huge chunks?
Look for the Cowboys defense to be pumped up this weekend, after allowing huge chunks of yards against Eli Manning last week. Manning completed the most passes in a game against the Pokes defense this year and they failed to record a sack.
I just do not see Reggie Bush getting to the outside against the Cowboys fast linebackers and this will expose Drew Brees to some fierce pressure when he passes.
Sportsbook has the over/under total at 48. Look for the Cowboys to have at least 35 points!
