Bears DT Injured
Tommie Harris, Chicago Bears defensive tackle made the Pro Bowl in 2005 but this year he could miss the rest of the season due to a severe hamstring injury.
Last Sunday, Harris had to leave the game against Minnesota during the third quarter. It was informed that the reason was a sprained left knee. Bears’ Coach Lovie Smith said the next day that the injury was not considered season-ending.
However, on Thursday the Coach announced that the hamstring injury was more severe than the knee sprain and that Harris needed to go to Dallas to see a specialist. He also declared that the DT could miss the remaining four regular-season games and possibly the playoffs too.
The Chicago Bears secured the NFC North on Sunday.
Harris wasn’t listed to play on Monday night's game at the St. Louis Rams but apparently the team’s coach didn’t know by that moment how bad the situation was. When they realized that there were two separate injuries and how delicate the other one was; the announcement was made.
Harris is known for his quickness and strength. He was Bears' first-round draft pick in the 2004 season, and he has five sacks this season and 11 1/2 during his career.
Apparently, the Chicago Bears are considering Ian Scott, Alfonso Boone and Antonio Garay as backups.
