Around The NBA!
A Challenging Start
The schedule makers weren't exactly kind to the Phoenix Suns in November. Not only do they open the season with three sets of back-to-back games in the first 10 days - twice, opponents will be rested and waiting for them on the second night.
The Clippers benefit both times. They will be sitting in Phoenix watching the Suns-Lakers game Tuesday before opening their season Wednesday at US Airways Center, and then they have Friday off at home while the Suns play Utah in Phoenix before flying back to Los Angeles for a game Saturday night.
"I haven't really studied the whole thing, but this might be the hardest part of our schedule," Phoenix coach Mike D'Antoni said. "Last year, we had the hardest part, travel-wise, the last two, three weeks of the season. Maybe it will help us to start hard."
Phoenix has issues with Amare Stoudemire and his troublesome knees. Because of the inflammation that appears after constant pounding, back to back games will be an issue. Throw in the fact that Shawn Marion is battling back spasms and will face a relaxed and rested Clippers team who will watch the Suns battle the Lakers, from the comfort of their Arizona hotel.
Did we mention that the Suns' playoff star Tim Thomas is now playing with the Clippers?
