Sportsbook.com Makes Adjustments On Dodgers-Mets Series!
You don't become the largest online sportsbook and casino by accident and Sportsbook is diligently following the Mets injury saga to make sure that you the Betting public get an appropriate number on the series.
A shocking announcement out of Shea Stadium in New York reported that the Mets two most experienced and successful post-season players, Pedro Martinez and Orlando Hernandez will not be available for the team with the best record in the NL during the regular season.
Game ones pitcher was expected to be rookie John Maine who went 6-5 with a 3.60 ERA in 16 games this season, including 15 starts. The right-hander had not been expected to pitch until later in the series at Los Angeles -- if at all. Had Martinez not been sidelined for the entire postseason by calf and shoulder injuries, Maine might have been left out of the playoff rotation altogether.
Maine lacks the October experience the Mets were counting on with Hernandez, acquired from Arizona in May. El Duque is 9-3 with a 2.55 ERA in 19 career postseason games, including 14 starts, mostly with the Yankees. He also owns four World Series rings, and his teams are 12-3 in postseason series.
The Mets will have experience in game two with Tom Glavine and are expected to use Steve Traschel, who was expected to return from a leave of absence on Tuesday.
With the absence of El Duque the line was adjusted for the opener with the Mets -123 and the Dodgers +123. The Mets are now 7-5 to win the NL with the Dodgers closing in at 5-2.
