Colts Unbeaten: Second Year in a Row
Indianapolis’ victory at New England on Sunday night established them as the –not so new- last unbeaten team of the NFL that’s participating on this season’s championship. This way, the Indianapolis Colts have entered the season’s second half as the last unbeaten team… one more time.
The Chicago Bears was also trying to earn this award but unfortunately for the team they lost to the Miami Dolphins. This time, the Colts record is 8 – 0. But this is the second year in a row that Indianapolis achieves this goal.
Indianapolis Colts have been on the spotlight for the last couple of years: first, Payton Manning set the touchdown passes record. Then they achieved the 13 – 0 start and finally they called the media’s attention with bad news when head coach Tony Dungy’s oldest son killed himself.
This week can start a new chapter in NFL’s history. If Indianapolis wins against Buffalo Bills (3 – 5), the Colts will become the first NFL team to go 9-0 in back-to-back seasons. This would be a good record but as they say, nothing matter if they don’t make it to the Super Bowl.
The Colts are ranking second in the NFL right after Baltimore. They have realized it is a team’s work; this way if one of them fails the others must cover for him and keep the team up.
The truth is they still have the chance to beat Miami Dolphin’s record as the NFL’s only unbeaten team, but as ironic as it is, Colts will close the season playing at home against this team.
