The Turkish Grand Prix
Felipe Massa has demonstrated he has improved his skills on the motor racing tracks by winning his first F1 race last Sunday. The Brazilian pilot won the first place during the last Formula One Grand Prix which took place in Istanbul, Turkey.
Massa started driving for Ferrari this season as a second pilot behind Michael Schumacher after having three monotonous years at Sauber with no glory. For the first time in his career Massa started from the pole, next to Schumacher and with Alonso on the second row.
At the beginning of the Formula 1 race, Massa, who is 25 years old, took the lead. Fernando Alonso was trying to get in the middle of them but Ferrari’s pilots squeezed him out and he fell to the third place around the first corner. This position was kept for the next 12 laps.
As the cars pitted for tires and fuel, Massa got to the pits first, therefore his teammate Schumacher had to wait a few seconds for him. Alonso pitted quickly and overcame Michael Schumacher.
Massa, the Brazilian pilot wept on the winner’s podium after an almost perfect race. Ferrari is scheduled to unveil its team of pilots for 2007 at the Italian Grand Prix at Monza on September. It has been rumored for months that McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen will become the new Ferrari driver. It remains a mystery if Raikkonen will be partnered by Schumacher or the steadily improving Massa.
There are still four Grand Prix races remaining: The Italian GP on September 8th to the 10th which track has a measurement of 306.720Km. The Chinese GP starting on September 29th to October 1st, with 305,066 Km. Then the Japanese GP from October 6th to the 8th that has a length of 307,573 Km and the last one of this year: Brazilian GP that starts on October 20th and finishes on October 22nd, this race goes on for 305, 909Km.
