Loose Tiger Finally Hunted Down On South Side!
Since early April there has been a ferocious Tiger on the loose and he has been devouring anyone who dares get in his way throughout the United States. On the weekend there were reports that he has been spotted on the South Side of Chicago and the Mayor of Chicago placed a call to no-nonsense Ozzie Guillen to bring on his boys.
Guillan began setting the trap Friday night and they hunted this tenacious foe with a fury. Just as they closed in for the kill and reports that they had wounded the Bengal, the tough S.O.B. escaped their grasps and was last seen headed in the direction of Boston.
Seriously folks the Tigers are wounded as they head to Boston to face a Red Sox team that cannot afford a losing streak as they look up at the Yankees. Heading to the hill tonight for the Red Sox will be right-hander Josh Beckett who is 13-6 on the year with a 4.92 ERA, but is winless in his last three starts. Beckett received a no-decision in his last outing on Wednesday against the Kansas City Royals as he allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits in six innings.
Beckett has never faced the Tigers.
Detroit will counter with left-hander Nate Robertson who has lost his last two starts and is just 2-5 over his last seven outings. Robertson fell to 10-8 on the year on Tuesday against the Minnesota Twins as he allowed three runs and seven hits in seven innings.
Robertson, who is pitching to a 3.82 ERA this season, is 0-2 lifetime against the Red Sox with a 7.33 ERA in four games.
While Boston enters this series on somewhat of a roll, the Tigers come in after getting swept in a three-game set by the Chicago White Sox. Detroit had its lead in the AL Central shrunk down to 5 1/2 games after dropping a 7-3 decision to second-place Chicago on Sunday.
Boston won two of three from the Tigers earlier in the season and is 22-7 in the series since the start of the 2003 season. Detroit has also struggled in Fenway where it has one just once in 13 tries.
Enjoy the very reason for online gambling and lay 1 ½ runs with the Red Sox!
