Activity Day
Activity day can mean many different things to many different people. In some places, such as the UK, it can mean joining in various team-building games. These activity days can be held for a variety of different purposes.
One of the biggest purposes of activity days is to provide an incentive for employee and/or corporate groups. These event-filled days could also be a perfect motivator for the increased performance of non-profit groups as well.
Usually an activity day consists of games that are played by teams in a friendly yet competitive manner. Examples of games played during activity days include competitive events such as Sheep Dog Handling.
During a Sheep Dog Handling event, the sheep dog is instructed to guide Indian Runner Ducks around a course and then into a pen. The winner is chosen according to a specific list of criteria and that winner is given fun money as a prize.
Other games that can be played on activity day include archery, which is the act of shooting a bow into a target for points, and 4x4 off road racing. The ones who shoot the most points in archery wins and the ones who incur the least amount of penalties on the off road course wins.
In fact, those who decide to try out the 4x4 course will find themselves treading over steep climbs and drops, tight twisting turns, and deep mud and water. In order to avoid penalties on the course drivers must be able to proceed without stopping, getting stuck, or hitting marker polls.
Another racing event may also take place on activity day. This one is called the Quad Bike racing event. Another name for Quad Bike is called a four-wheeler. The Quad Bike event is very similar to the 4x4 event, because drivers will encounter similar landscape challenges such hills, bumps, and drops. Each Quad Bike trail requires quick turns and skillful maneuvering.
Another event similar to the Quad Racing or the 4x4 event is known as the Honda Pilots’ event. In this event drivers will maneuver in off road dune buggies. These buggies are small one-seat cars which have the same capabilities of an off road vehicle. Teams will work together to hopefully win the Honda Pilot challenge.
Activity days could also include a variety of other events as well. For example, there are events such as the Mission CCS or The Web. Each of these two games provides an exciting challenge for any corporate or non-profit team building event.
During the Mission CCS event teams must cross what looks like a minefield with the equipment they were given. The object is to carry hazardous material across the minefield before the contents cause a disaster.
The Web provides another skill-building event where a team must work together to accomplish the seemingly impossible. During this event teams travel through a 3D web and they are required to do so without touching it. Talk about hand-eye coordination exercise, and one that encourages trust between group members.
An activity day can include any of the above team-building and trust-building exercises. It can also include events that are designed just for the fun of it. For example, an activity day can include fairground rides, barbeques, banquets, and arena displays. There is no end to the activity day that could be planned for any group.
