Poker blogs: place your poker skills in a display
A group as enthusiastic and even as fiery as the wide group of online poker players is expected – in the most authentic, commonsensical manner – to sooner or later start sharing their poker experiences. What better way to do it than through the largely accessible poker blogs? Poker players are not just expected to communicate their performances by means of poker blogs, they are wholeheartedly asked for their valuable poker blogs.
The significance of poker blogs lies primarily in the comprehensive insight they offer: poker blogs are similar to inspiring openings into the territory of some other poker player. This one is a player who is willing to place in a public display his private thoughts on various successful or unsuccessful poker experiences.
Browsing through poker blogs is resembling something like this: you are sitting outside a building, all doors and windows are closed, it seems your access has been denied, when unexpectedly a window opens and somebody makes you a welcoming sign from that window; you are invited to join them in an enjoyable session in which they provide you not just with the basics, but with the most privileged details on different poker incidents.
The advantage is obvious: when someone else talks about their feats or disappointments caused by a number of poker games, they usually give information on what they think they did right or on what type of poker strategy they shouldn’t have adopted; therefore, the pieces of information obtained by means of poker blogs may help you the next time you consider, for instance, slow-playing or bluffing or manipulating pot odds.
Who writes poker blogs? Basically, every player who is willing and who thinks that posting their blogs is of value – they may consider their poker blogs of great consequence for themselves. However, we think that the majority of poker bloggers are aware that their poker blogs have a public, as it happens with any other type of blogs. Therefore, postings of poker blogs belong to practically every category of poker players: beginners, those who are starting to get a hold of more than just the basic plays, and, last but certainly not least, the genuine poker connoisseurs.
So such blogs can be authentically edifying, yet there is also a tinge – and maybe more than just a tinge – of an entertaining facet to some of them. The latter “phenomenon” frequently takes place both in the case of remarkably well written blogs and in the case of those with contents which may be labeled as poor. Many poker bloggers definitely know how to handle a fine, engaging account of successful hand readings, of opportune tells, of the opponent(s)’ mediocre – or, on the contrary, astonishing – play in a Texas hold ‘em, and so on.
Others, on the other hand, amuse the reader by either the self-importance the players attach to themselves or by the vexation they display after having dealt with an incredible bad beat. Therefore, some boast, others complain; some even post pictures, more or less related to the poker game. In any case, such reports are frequently amusing and most of the times the reader does not feel sorry that he has browsed various web pages to read such posts.
All in all, poker blogs rank among some of the first class sources of information on the game. Instructions booklets alone, although thorough and carefully written so as to result as comprehensive as possible, do not prove as insightful and detailing on the actual experience of the player. And many people – players themselves, and potential bloggers, why not? – are interested specifically in the more personal touch that blogs are “blessed” with.
The accounts of players as to how they reacted, for instance, when they woke up with a hand, or of professionals knowing they dealt with a berry patch, or of those describing their exasperation at having been eliminated on the bubble, all of these, and many, many more render the game experience more tangible than it is when communicated as plain instructions. And, eventually, maybe you are interested in starting your own blog and some previous reading did no harm to anyone.
