The Wholesaler basics Pt. 1 - What you should know about your Wholesaler
So you're looking to make some money and you decide to start selling products. Whether you are trying to sell and earn money online or in a brick in mortar store, it doesn't matter, because what you are about to learn applies to both ways of selling. But as you are about to begin your business venture you come to a seemingly dead end when you realize that you have no products to sell. You don't know where or how to even start looking for products to sell. You see retail and online stores that seem to have ample amounts of various products. But were do they get them? In most cases those stores get their products from sources call a wholesaler.
What is a Wholesaler?
A wholesale is a company that sells products to retail stores usually in bulk at huge discounts. Wholesales sell those products at huge discounts because they sell them in very large amounts. Typically the more you buy the less each individual unit will cost. Let's go down the line. A manufacturer creates a product. After the product is completed, the manufacturer then sells it to a wholesaler. The wholesale then in turn sells it to retail stores. Then retail stores sell the product to the consumer. When searching for a wholesaler you are going to want a source with the fewest 'middle men' as possible.
Finding a Source with the Fewest Middle Men as Possible!
Here is a definition of the term 'Middle Man' or 'Middle Men' for those who aren't sure. 'Middle Men' are the number of companies in between you and the manufacturer. The more 'Middle Men' there are, the higher your prices will be. Remember when I described how products were created by the manufacturer then sold to a wholesale company and then sold to a retail store (you). In that case the wholesale company would be the 'Middle man'. If you can, try to find the manufacturer itself. Though it is very hard to do, finding one would be a plus.
Why would there be many 'Middle Men'
There are many companies posing as wholesalers because they are looking for the same thinking you are looking for, money. When a manufacturer sells to a wholesale company, then that wholesale company sells to another company. Every time one company sells to another company, the first company would increase the price slightly before selling to the second company. The same is done if that second company sells to a third company, or even you. So the moral of this explanation is to find a source with the fewest middle men.
Two types of Wholesalers
There are two major types of wholesalers. There are those who drop ship and those who don't. For those who don't know what a drop shipper is, it is simply a wholesale company that will ship the products directly to your customers. Finding a drop shipper is great news if you are planning to sell products via the Internet. It could even be good news for though selling products in a brick and mortar store. It is possible to give away catalogs to customers so they can give to friends who live out of town. If those out of town customers make a purchase via your catalogues you can still get paid. Try to find a source that drop ships.
That concludes The Wholesaler basics Pt. 1 - What you should know about your Wholesaler
