Auction Services
An auction service puts sellers and buyers in touch with each other, whoever they are, wherever they are, whatever they’re selling so everyone can get the best possible price.
If you have something to sell, maybe there’s someone who wants to buy that item but maybe she lives in another country and speaks another language. Without the services of an online auction house, these two parties would probably NEVER have come into contact with each other. The possibility of finding each other was just too small. Now, nothing could be easier. The people of the world are coming together and selling stuff and it’s a revolution that owes everything to online auction houses.
Stuff that you have hidden away in boxes in the basement may be worthless to you but is just exactly what someone else is searching for. Who knows what valuable treasures you have hidden away that have no value for you but someone else is desperate to get hold of.
Browse the list of things you can bid for online. Try and think of a category of products that isn’t available. Impossible! You can buy and sell just about anything through an online auction house. And, if you do come up with a new category – you can try and sell it yourself!!
The services provided by an auction house cut out an awful lot of wasted effort on a global scale. In a couple of clicks, you can list a product in the category, or see millions of items listed; something that would never have been possible without the services of an auction house.
Of course you have to pay something for this service but most buyers and sellers are happy to pay the small fee involved for the chance to reach millions of potential buyers or and uncountable number of items for sale.
Thousands and thousands of products are bought and sold every day at online auctions. A tiny, almost insignificant number of these transactions are fraudulent. A lot of people imagine that the auction house should be responsible for this but there are several reasons why this is not the case.
Auction services don’t guarantee that the seller has the product that he claims or in the condition he claims. That is up to the buyer to verify, as the Romans used to say, caveat emptor, and buyer beware. The auction house is providing the space where buyers and sellers come together for a fee. It would not be possible for an auction house to check each and every lot for sale. However, reported violations will be taken seriously and where appropriate, the guilty party will no longer be allowed to trade on the site.
Auction houses take violations seriously and want to hear about any concerns you may have with a trade. However, as millions of satisfied customers can testify, online auction houses do provide a secure environment for buying and selling online.
