The Corporate Gift Challenge
Do you like to feel appreciated for your hard work? Do you feel that you should reward others for their hard work and dedication? Are you in support of corporate gift giving? If you are undecided, try taking the Corporate Gift Challenge.
The Corporate Gift Challenge is a test that will determine whether an individual is for or against corporate gift giving. If you choose to participate, you are strongly encouraged to refrain from taking this test if you are in an important meeting, if your boss is standing right over you, or if you are in a time crunch to meet an important deadline.
Directions: Choose the letter corresponding to the answer that best describes you.
1. What would you do if your boss gave you a corporate coffee mug as a token of appreciation for a job well done? a. Contact human resources. b. File a sexual harassment suit against him/her. c. Say, “No thanks” and toss it in the garbage can. d. Accept the gift with much gratitude.
2. What would you do if you were presented with a corporate gift basket as a company incentive? a. Resign from your position. b. Report the company to the Better Business Bureau. c. Say, “No thanks” and toss the gift in the garbage can. d. Feel more secure about working for a company that shows appreciation for its employees.
3. What would you do if your employer presented you with a personalized business card holder? a. Give it away and purchase your own. b. Give it back to your boss the following Christmas. c. Say, “No thanks” and toss the gift in the garbage can. d. Accept the gift as a token of appreciation and get a lot of use out of it.
4. What would you do if you were presented with an “Employee of the Month” award? a. Decline the award. b. Ask for a promotion instead. c. Say “No thanks” and toss the award in the garbage can. d. Accept the award and then work toward getting a promotion.
If you chose letter d for each of the questions above—pat yourself on the back for being the perfect candidate for giving your employees corporate gifts. Remember, those who like to receive, should also enjoy giving. If you answered a, b, or c to any of the above questions—you may want to consider updating your resume and looking for new employment.
Corporate gifts are a wonderful way to show your appreciation for the hardworking employee. Whether you recognize your employees on an individual level or at a company appreciation dinner, you are sure to boost your staffs’ morale. It’s always polite to say “thank you”—why not say it with a corporate gift.
