Thermal transfer, off line blister card printing
Rotech help Summit scale new heights
If you’ve ever bought an after-market mirror glass for your car, van or even truck, there’s a good chance it was produced by Summit Accessories in Banbury. Most of the glass is sealed in a blister on a card that carries both a written description of the Make, Model and Type of vehicle and also a bar code.
Meeting customer delivery requirements for a vast range of variants meant keeping a large stock of preprinted cards and also hand applying a range of labels for the less common ranges. While retaining some pre-printed cards for the highest volume variants, Summit wanted to be able to print the rest of the cards on demand and to include an EAN barcode in the same area as the product description. This is where Rotech came in. By supplying one of their Bell-Mark Thermal Transfer printers in combination with a versatile card feeder, they were able to offer everything Summit needed. The Versastyle software allowed all the formats to be stored on a dedicated PC and its advanced font scaling capabilities permitted large amounts of product information to be fitted into the designated overprint area.
Rotech were also able to supply the perfect grade of Thermal Ribbon to adhere to the adhesive coating on the card while delivering a first class print quality.
