File Names and Links Text Optimization
Renaming your files and directories with your keywords is also a part of search engine optimization. Suppose if your website is selling cheap computers, and your “Services” page could have the file name “services.html” but using this will not have any keywords in it. It would be better to have “cheap-computers-services.html” or “services-cheap-computers.html”.
Try to make your file names descriptive and use targeted keywords whenever possible. If you make a sub-directory, also make sure that its name incorporates an important keyword. You can also use sub-domains with the name of your primary keywords because search engines pay a lot more attention to these domains. As an example, suppose you run a search engine optimization services website then you could use a sub-domain:
www.seo.yourdomain.com or even better use www.search-engine-optimization.com.
When placing keywords in your file names, try separate the file name words. Never use some thing like "filename.html" except you can use "file-name.html", which is much better and it also allows the search engines to clearly classify your keywords in the file names.
Text Link Optimization
Some search engines actually look for keywords in the hyperlinks and any text immediately surrounding the hyperlinks. What this means to you is that if you can, I recommend you should include your most important keyword phrases in the link itself and possibly the surrounding text.
Do not to use link text such as "click here", "visit here", "click for more" or similar variants.
Except using these types of hyperlinks you may use your primary keywords in your anchor texts. Going back to our example of search engine optimization company. We could make use an text link like search engine optimization company This text link contains the keywords again and also says something about the services we offer.
Try to include your most important keyword phrases in the text that immediately precedes, or follows the hyperlink. But be careful not to keyword stuff! Make sure your links and surrounding text are still readable and make sense after you include a keyword phrase or two.
One thing more I want to tell you that the links which appear in between your text is more favored by the search engines than the links in the navigational bar.
