Electric Shavers for Women
Everybody knows that women’s shaving needs and men’s shaving needs are very different, therefore you simply cannot have one type of electric shaver for both men and women. Women’s electric razors are usually designed quite differently from men’s, and have different features.
Electric shavers for women are contoured in a certain way so that they can shave legs effectively without causing injury. Most women’s electric shavers have a slightly bowed shape at the head, so they can shave the delicate skin around the shin bone of the leg, plus the area around the knee and the calf effectively. Many women’s electric shavers also have features that make them safe to use in the bikini area, as well as the underarm area – places that men rarely have to worry about with their electric shavers.
A large number of women’s electric shavers are “dry” shavers, meaning that they cannot be used with water, lotion, or shaving cream. They are still, however, designed so that they do not irritate the skin, and once an area is completely shaved it is safe to apply lotion. In more recent years, some models of women’s electric shavers have come out on the market that are made for wet shaving – some even have shaving lotion dispensers built right into them as an added feature.
Many women prefer wet shaving, because they feel that they get a closer shave this way. The new electric wet shavers seem to give women what they have always gotten from traditional razors, with a lot more convenience and safety. Since women can tend to suffer from ingrown hairs much more than men, though, it is imperative for women to buy well-designed shavers that cut hair as closely as possible, whether or not they are wet or dry electric shavers.
There is a certain type of electric shaver that is definitely geared toward women. This is the “epilator” type of electric shaver. The difference between a regular woman’s electric shaver and an epilator is that the regular kind simply shaves the hair off at the surface of the skin, but the epilator type of woman’s electric shaver actually “tweezes” the hair out of the skin, root and all. Although technological advances have made some epilator type shavers more comfortable to use, the fact that hair removal with these types of electric shavers can be painful is still one of the most common complaints. That being said, however, when hair is removed by an epilator type of women’s electric shaver, the hair stays gone much longer, and regrowth is slower. For many women, this can be worth the discomfort.
