Bratz Dolls – All the Rage
Do you mind if your daughters play with brats? You probably wouldn’t if it was spelled with a “z” on the end instead of an “s”. Bratz dolls, by MGA Entertainment, have become quite a sensation with young girls all over. With their oversized heads and feet, their flashy hip clothes and their “whatever” attitudes, Bratz dolls have become the dolls that girls, usually between the ages of about 6 to 12 years old, must have.
There are several different Bratz dolls to choose from, and they can come in two different sizes, the standard ten inch dolls, and the smaller “Mini Bratz”. Unlike Barbie dolls, Bratz dolls are not “correctly proportioned”. Their heads and feet are large compared to their bodies, which simply serves to make them look more “cool” as far as the girls who own them are concerned. Bratz dolls never wear regular everyday clothes either; they are always decked out in flashy, shiny, hip party wear that gets them noticed in a big way.
One unique feature about Bratz dolls is that their feet always have shoes on – the shoes aren’t interchangeable, the feet with shoes on them are interchangeable. So, when you change a Bratz doll’s shoes, you change her feet too!
Bratz dolls come in different ethnicities, and with different names, but any of them can use the accessories that go along with them, since they are all the same size. Bratz dolls have some great accessories that go along with their “party girl” theme, such as little karaoke machines, sushi bars, stereos, and even limousines!
Some parents worry that Bratz dolls represent today’s materialistic lifestyle, but most young girls just get a kick out of playing with dolls that have a different twist to them than regular Barbie dolls. By the age of 13, most young girls are done playing with dolls anyway, so there’s really not much chance that Bratz dolls will be influencing teenage girls or young women. Young girls love to pretend that their Bratz dolls are famous singers or actresses - but it’s just pretend.
Since Bratz dolls have been so popular since they first came on the market in 2001, the Bratz sensation has branched out into more than just dolls. Now there are Bratz DVD’s where kids can watch their favorite Bratz characters in cartoon form, Bratz fashions for young girls, plus such things as Bratz bedspreads, sheets, and pillowcases for girls who just can’t get enough of them!
