The Hummer H1: Brute Force and Aggressive Styling
Dubbed as the world’s most able automobile, the Hummer H1 originally produced by AM General Corporation before General Motors came to own the outfit has been given much praise for its off road driving capability. Though its fuel economy is another story, the Hummer H1 has been a symbol of raw power and precision engineering which has continually set the bar higher and higher for all sport utility vehicles.
The Hummer H1 is more often than not known for its huge power plant and the amount of power this source of energy can produce. The vehicle is powered by an electronically controlled Optimizer 6500 V8 Turbo Charged Diesel engine capable of churning out 205 units of horsepower at 3,400 revolutions per minute and 440 lb-ft of torque at 1800 revs per minute.
All those power is transferred to the wheels via a 4L80-E four-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle is a permanent all wheel drive giving the Hummer H1 the awesome off road driving capability known the world over. Add to that the independent front and rear double A-frame suspension system with open end coil springs and equipped also with hydraulic shock absorbers. Steering this monster of an SUV is made easier with its power assisted steering system, giving the car superior handling capabilities in any weather or road condition. The Hummer H1 also has a Runflat Tire System for those emergency tire problems drivers might face on the road - or off the road in that case.
Aside from those high performance and reliable Hummer parts employed to make up the cars performance aspect, what also gets almost everybody’s attention is its exterior styling. The aircraft aluminum body commands attention from everyone who ever lays their eyes on it. Its forward tilting hood adds to the aggressiveness being exuded by the vehicle. And since it is primarily an off road heavy duty vehicle, it features steel bumper towing shackles. And to protect the underchassis of the car from the extreme punishment it may take from the road, the Hummer H1 features a 3/16 inch T6 aluminum rocker panel protector, a heavy duty brush guard, and a high impact-resistant full drivetrain protection. Other features include heated power mirrors and halogen headlights.
The interior of the Hummer H1 complements its exterior designing - from the seats which are leather trimmed and a heated seat for the driver to the central power locking system with remote keyless entry. The entertainment system included in the package is one that would surely be loved by any music lover for it comes featuring a Monsoon audio system with in-dash 6 CD changer. For the occupants comfort especially during long drives, the air conditioner has an auxiliary rear unit. Also thrown into the mix are the heated windshield and a delay wiper system.
