Ford has to stop the bleeding this time around. Hence, the automaker has released its powerful potions to heal its ailing market standing. Though, these vehicles are not enough to completely cure the illness, they could serve as timely medical attendance to ensure recovery.

Ford’s product line is slowly recovering from years of neglect and inattention of previous management teams. To further boost its recovery, the automaker wants to prove that the best trucks are indeed manufactured by Ford so it unveiled the Super Duty. "The Super Duty pickups are by far the most profitable vehicles in Ford's line," said Jim Hall, vice president for industry analysis in the Southfield office of consultant AutoPacific.

The Ford Super Duty model was refreshed for the 2005 model year. Changes include a new interior, grille, trailer brake controller, uplifter switches and upgraded engines. For the model year 2007, the truck was completely redesigned. For the model year 2008, Ford will be introducing a 6.4 L twin-turbo Power Stroke Diesel V8 with piezo fuel injectors to replace the 6.0 L Power Stroke Diesel V8.

So far, the automaker would not reveal the Ford Super Duty figures however critics say it clears thousands in dealerships despite the booming competition. As a fact, it is the only segment where big-money news favors Ford.

When it comes to the well-engineered sport utility vehicles like the Ford Edge and the Lincoln MKX, which are expected to make money, only a little boost was realized. A total of 150,000 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX units were sold and it could not offset the weakness of other products.

The Sync, the newest vehicle of the automaker developed with Microsoft, is equipped with superb in-car entertainment systems including the nifty interface routes phones and MP3 players. Critics commented that Sync could be one great vehicle of the automaker; the only problem is that it lacks creativity. They suggest Sync should be given the styling renaissance of Volvo. The latter’s styling, cues, including other auto parts like upgraded engine and Volvo radiator.

Another viable vehicle is the XC90 from Volvo. In 2003, it took the market by storm and to boost the potentials, Volvo’s pool of creative designers entertained a redesign. "The changes we have made to the new Volvo XC90 can be regarded as precision tuning designed to increase the vehicles appeal further," said the Volvo XC90’s project director, Hans Wikman. "We are aiming at a highly discerning group of buyers and we want to give them an even better premium experience."

"It is time to once and for all forget about boxy Volvos," said Mattin. "Instead, we will make our Scandinavian design heritage more emotional and radiant by adding sculptured and emotive shapes. If you can recognize a Volvo from 50 yards today, I want to get to the point where you will instantly spot a Volvo from twice that distance in the future."

The Jaguar brand also unveiled the CX-F, the charismatic replacement of the Jaguar S-Type which reveals future sedan design direction. "The C-XF concept is the most dynamic and modern four-door car that Jaguar has ever created," said Ian Callum, the director of design for Jaguar Cars. "Jaguars should be perceived as cool cars that attract interesting, edgy people. The next generations of Jaguars will do just that."

"These unusual finishes allow us to explore new ideas and themes," said Alister Whelan, one of the designers responsible for the Jaguar C-XF's interior. "Jaguar is recognized for tailoring cars in wood and leather, but we have turned that on its head by treating these traditional materials in an unusual and contemporary fashion." "We want Jaguars to feel like they are coming alive when you start them," Whelan concluded.

The new product lines unveiled by Ford are expected to assuage the detrimental effects of losses. However, at this point in time, they offer no guarantee.
