Honda brings home the bacon in the NDTV Profit Car & Bike India Awards
The Hero Honda CBZ X-Treme and the Honda Civic were named as the “Best Bike of 2006” and the “Best Car of the Year” at the annual NDTV Profit Car & Bike India Awards in Mumbai, India. Honda Civic also bagged the Viewers' Choice awards, tying with TVS Apache. The Marketing Team award went to General Motors. Mr. Anand Mahindra was awarded as the 'NDTV Profit Car & Bike Automobile Man of the Year'. Honda Siel Cars India president and CEO M. Takedagawa said Civic has made them proud across the world with its style, technology and its ability to adapt ongoing innovations and it is heartening to know it is the same for India. Hero Honda Managing Director Pawan Munjal accepted the “Bike of the Year” recognition for CBZ X-Treme. The NDTV Profit Car and Bike awards celebrates the best design, unmatched technology, style and performance in the automobile industry and awards the best vehicles that dominated the markets.
To enumerate, the following were the awards received by Honda:
Honda Civic - Car of the Year; Executive Car of the Year Honda CR-V- SUV of the Year Hero Honda CBZ X-Treme - Bike of the Year Hero Honda CBZ X-Treme- Bike of the Year upto 150 cc Honda Civic - Automotive Design of the year Honda Civic - CNB-AAA Viewers' choice Car of the Year Aside from bagging major awards, a survey said yesterday that the Honda's Civic is also considered one of the most appealing cars in the market. The CR-V and Accord models, as well as Toyota’s Vios and Previa were also in the list.
The latest Honda Civic, which scored 833 points on a 1,000-point scale, was rated the Best Midsize car in the "2006 Taiwan Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout Study."
Now in its ninth year, the survey is conducted by J.D. Power Asia Pacific. The agency interviews car owners about what excites and delights them on their vehicles' performance and design during the first two to six months of ownership.
The Lexus ES, which dominated the luxury class with 912 points, set the benchmark with the highest score across all vehicle segments. It also received the highest ratings from customers across all factors that determine overall satisfaction, the survey said.
The survey, which rated 47 different models from 13 different manufacturers, was based on evaluations from more than 9,000 owners who purchased a new car between March and July last year. In the entry-level midsize segment, Toyota Vios ranked highest with 789 points, while the Toyota Previa scored 817 points in the multi-purpose vehicle segment.
