The Volvo S60: Filling the Gap
Volvo is the world’s most known and most popular car manufacturer when it comes to safety. Most of its released vehicles - from sedan to trucks - are loaded with safety features that any driver, or passenger for that matter, would surely want to be present in the vehicle they are boarding. Its lineup of small cars is a testament to the company’s continuing efforts to advance the level of safety of anyone on board their vehicle. The Volvo S60 fits right in the middle of that lineup; it is slightly larger than its brother, the Volvo S40 but not quite as large as the Volvo S80 which is the luxury model of the company.
The Volvo S60 though in the same lineup as the two is a different car as a whole. It combines great driving performance and design with the safety features that the company producing it is known for. Its design is a step forward for the company coping with modern exterior designing. This tactic and technique has actually the capacity for making their cars look good but not sacrificing the safety and the overall performance of their vehicles.
Driving performance is a great thanks to the precise engineering and design put into the car by the manufacturer. Every system and component of the car is finely tuned to help the engine achieve its maximum performance. The suspension is remarkable for it makes the car comfortable to drive and ride on even over a bumpy road. Its steering, while not as razor sharp as high performance luxury sports car, still handles very well under normal conditions.
The car is also available in all wheel drive version which gives the car better handling and it can take on gravel and snow respectably. Stability is much improved on the all wheel drive models thus ensuring safer driving and more comfort for those on board. The power from the turbocharged engine of the Volvo S60 is distributed efficiently to all wheels via a wet multi-plate clutch which is electronically controlled. The electronic system on board makes sure that all wheels are gripping the road when one wheel looses traction - the system automatically sends power to that wheel.
The car is powered by a turbocharged engine capable of giving the car respectable speed and acceleration that is noteworthy. And to contain that power and therefore keep the cars’ riders safe, the braking system is another example of how seriously the company is taking the safety of their consumers. Braking works smoothly thanks to the components working perfectly as engineered like the Volvo brake booster and other parts in the system. The car is also equipped with the standard anti-lock braking system which makes braking more stable.
