The 2007 Volvo XC90 Gives More Space and Safety
Sport utility vehicles have been known for having good driving capabilities and a large space for passengers and cargoes. Not to mention that SUVs also are great at looking cool. But they have also been known to be gas guzzlers and that is why manufactures competing in the SUV market continually develop ways to increase their vehicles’ fuel efficiency without sacrificing the traits that are uniquely SUV.
One such company making a step toward developing an energy efficient SUV is Volvo, the Swedish company known for their dedication to providing safe cars to the public and the market. Their answer to the call of the SUV market is their Volvo XC90, the 2007 year model. The vehicle has the capabilities and visual traits of an SUV. The vehicle is one of the tallest in its class, giving its occupants more headroom. This one also boasts of its interior design that gives adequate legroom for the first and second row seats. However, the third row seat is best left for children but is pretty much common on all SUVs. In a nutshell, though, the vehicle all in all is roomy.
The interior of the SUV has been given much thought, thanks to the company’s inclination to safety; the car is equipped with different safety systems. It has the company’s Whiplash Protection System which protects the occupants’ spine and neck in cases of crashes by letting the backrest move back with its occupant. Also employed is the Side-Impact Protection System which is primarily designed to protect the car’s passengers and drivers during side collisions. Another safety system integrated in the vehicle is the ROPS or the RollOver Protection System which provides curtain airbag deployment to protect all the cars’ occupants and passengers. The standard front airbags are also present and pretension seatbelts are also thrown into the mix.
The car’s performance is also noteworthy thanks to its 3.2 liter in-line 6-cylinder twin-cam, 24 valve engine giving a maximum output of 235 units of horsepower while the fuel consumption is kept to a very reasonable level. While the power takes time to flow through due to the engine’s configuration, a number of parts work together to transfer that power to the wheels to provide an optimum driving experience. The car’s 6-speed automatic transmission is one of those and other drivetrain parts – these are products of precision engineering. Suspension and steering is satisfactory thanks to the high performance parts like the Volvo ball joints among others which works perfectly with other components to provide superior handling of the car.
This car is one of the more promising SUV in the market today, with its safety systems and better fuel efficiency, the XC90 is on the way of being a serious challenge to other car manufacturer’s models.
