"Prius is No.1 in Gas Mileage" - EPA
Recently, Environment Protection Agency (EPA) unveiled the top 10 fuel economy list and the vehicle hailed as the best gas saver on the road was Toyota Prius. Among the 10 vehicles named by EPA, 5 belong to Toyota. This is just to show that the automaker is taking gas mileage seriously.
The 2007 Prius tops EPAs list with 60 miles per gallon in the city and 51 mpg on the highway. Nonetheless, some Prius owners disputed EPAs report. They contend that the average gas mileage of its hybrid models is about 43 miles to a gallon.
Toyota parts for Prius are designed to lessen the amount of pollution it produce and be energy-efficient as possible. Prius is equipped with a smaller and lower voltage NiMH battery and a boost converter to produce up to 500 V. The 2004 version of the vehicle is made more powerful and 15 percent more fuel-efficient with 60 miles per US gallon city and 51 miles per US gallon highway. According to several drive test, when Prius is driven appropriately even in suburban driving, is it reported to yield fuel consumption of 45 to 50 miles per US gallon.
Included in the meticulously chosen Toyota Prius auto parts and accessories is the multi-function-display (MFD). It shows fuel consumption bars for every 5 minute segment of driving. Additionally, the driver can decipher whether he is wasting too much fuel. Hence, this device can promote economical driving.
Next to Prius in EPAs list is the Honda Civic Hybrid with 49 mpg in the city and 51 mpg on the highway. The 2006 Honda Civic is a completely redesigned version of the car. It is made more curvaceous and sporty. It is also given power Honda parts and accessories that include airbags, standard ABS, and a brand new engine with almost equal fuel economy feature than its predecessor.
Third on the list is Toyota Camry Hybrid with 40 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway. Camry is the best-selling car in the United States for 8 of the last 9 years since 1997. The car is equipped with Toyota Camry OEM parts to boost fuel efficiency and performance.
Also included in EPAs top 10 list are Ford Escape Hybrid with FWD, Toyota Yaris with Manual Transmission, Toyota Yaris with Automatic Transmission, Honda Fit with Manual Transmission, Toyota Corolla with Manual Transmission, Hyundai Accent and Kia Rio with Manual Transmission, and Ford Escape Hybrid with 4WD and Mercury Mariner with 4WD.
The figures announced by EPA are gathered in cooperation with the Department of Energy and several car manufacturers. In an interview Stephen L. Johnson, EPA Administrator said, "By fueling consumers with better information, the EPA is helping American motorists conserve their money while preserving our environment."
