Ford Yields High China Sales In The First 3 Quarters
Ford Motor Co. has announced its brisk sales in China. In the automaker's 2006 first three quarters report it was reflected that it has sold a total of 106,237 units of automobiles under the Ford brand. From January to September this year, Ford yielded 111 percent year on year increase. The company also noted that said increase is their fastest growth in sales in China.
Meiwei Cheng, vice president of Ford and chairman of Ford Motor China said, "The company's outstanding sales showed that Ford has achieved remarkable strategic development in China since 2005."
In the first three quarters of this year, Chang'an Motor Corp, a joint venture of Ford Motor Company along with Chang'an Motor Corp, China's No. 4 vehicle producer, sold 87,930 units of Ford vehicles. It is 147 percent more than its sales figure in the year 2005. Jiangling Motor Corp, where Ford held 30 percent of shares, sold 16,315 units of commercial vehicles under Ford brand. Said figure has amplified by 29 percent year on year. Ford's venture with Jiangling sets forth the Transit commercial vehicle.
Chang'an Ford is producing the Mondeo, Focus and Fiesta models and the Volvo S40. Along the increase of Ford's sales automobiles is the increase in sales of its parts. Volvo S40, for one, is overwhelmed by purchases. The 4-door, 5-passenger sedan is available in three trims – 2.4i, T5 and T5 AWD. Volvo S40 parts include the standard 2.4-liter, I5, 168-horsepower engine rated 22/30 mpg in the city/highway. T5, on one hand, is given 218-horsepower, turbo engine that produces 19/27 mpg in the city/highway.
The Detroit-based automobile manufacturer has earlier opened a vehicle finance company to facilitate its sales and eventually support the expansion of its business in China. By the end of the year, said finance company will be offering credit services to Ford customers situated in the 21 cities of the country. These services are considered by the automaker to effectuate a more productive automotive business operation in said part of the globe.
