Texas Part of National Drunk Driving Campaign
The Labor Day holiday weekend has been very much anticipated by all kinds of people. Many have planned their activities for such a holiday like driving to various destinations. Events like celebrations and parties were surely part of many plans for the Labor Day holiday weekend.
And during such grand occasions, drinking and having fun cannot be avoided. That is why as part of the concern of keeping all people in Texas safe and sound, the state of Texas has joined the National Drunk Driving Campaign. And the whole project seemed to be good enough for the numbers of accidents and cases that were due to drunk driving went down.
When the Labor Day holiday weekend was just about to start, Carlos Lopez who works as the Director of Traffic Operations for Texas, said, “If you drink and drive over Labor Day weekend, you could land in jail. Thousands of officers will be patrolling streets and highways all over Texas, and you will be arrested if you are driving while intoxicated.”
Aside from this, it is also very important to note that such activities should not only be done by officers during grand occasions such as Labor Day. In fact, it should continuously be done and the efforts doubled during days when celebrations seem to be non-stop. In fact, officials from Texas have given out some very useful tips so as to serve as reminders to drivers had plans on venturing on the road during that holiday weekend. One of these is to restraint oneself from getting behind the wheel if you have already been drinking. Or if you do need to go home, it would be best to rather have a taxi take you home. Your vehicle can stay where it is until the morning.
Your vehicle may look great and in total condition after you have just added some old Chevy truck parts to give it a vintage look but it would not look as good after you do crash it into a tree or into someone else’s vehicle. So being safe and sound is one of the most important things that a driver should keep in mind Labor Day holiday weekend or no Labor Day holiday weekend.
