What Is MySpace.com - Part 2
MySpace.com has become one of the most popular sites on the Internet. People from all over the globe are signing up and posting both personal and professional information in numbers unparalleled by other sites of its kind.
In 1998, the domain myspace.com was registered to a San Francisco-based online storage and file sharing firm. Then, registration was free and users were able to obtain a small disk quota which gradually increased if they referred new members to the website. However, due to slow service and a lack of revenue, the original site was shut down and its users’ information sold in 2001.
Then, in 2003, the current service we now know of as MySpace.com was founded by Tom Anderson. Several media companies, including News Corporation, have since bought into this business venture, which is proving to be very successful in both the unique services it offers all in one place and its fast-growing client base.
News Corporation is the parent company of Fox Broadcasting, who, in January of 2006, announced plans to launch a UK version of MySpace.com in a bid to tap into the music scene of the UK. This came to pass.
There are many benefits and features offered on myspace, and it serves as an outlet for many artistic individuals who are working independently to get the word out about their special talents or products. This includes: musicians, filmmakers, and comedians. Many independent artists of these genres work very hard to capture the attention of fans from all over the globe, and the MySpace.com site has afforded them the opportunity to do just that.
The first thing a user must do when setting up a MySpace.com site is to register. This is free, and involves entering your name, E-mail address, creating a user name, and entering a password. Once this is done, you can start building you’re MySpace.com profile so that others may view your information. Whether you are a professional wishing to spread the word about your product or service, or simply want a place for people to view your personal information and learn more about who you are, MySpace.com has something for you.
Building a profile can be as simple or complicated as you desire. The interface is set up, however, to enable users to build even the most complex pages quickly and easily without knowing HTML. There are many layouts from which to choose, and others can be downloaded from various other sites like Myspsace.net or PopDarts.com. It is even possible to choose one from another profile already created on the MySpace.com site using a "layout snatcher" like the one used in http://www.mypsace.org/Layout_Stealer
Once you have chosen your layout and customized your page, you can begin entering your information. It is possible to not only post biographical information, but music, photos, and videos can also be uploaded to the site so that others may view them.
Since 2003, MySpace.com has become one of the most widely used social interactive sites on the Internet, drawing a multitude of users each day. More and more people are signing up to view and create web pages, and to chat with others who share the same interests. It is also a good way to get to know others from other locations, and can help promote an Internet unity never before achieved.
