How to Select a Network Marketing Opportunity
Network marketing has been a part of the American business landscape for many decades. With the dramatic influence of the Internet, the presence of network marketing business opportunities has increased dramatically. So with this tremendous variety of possible businesses to choose from, what are some of the things the newcomer to network marketing should take into account when making his choice?
In order to be successful in any endeavor, you will have to work at it, despite the promises of instant success that are commonly made. This is as true for network marketing as it is for any other form of business. So you should ask yourself: Can I commit the time necessary to make this business opportunity successful? Do I really believe in the products I will be promoting? If you can't answer yes, you are unlikely to be successful.
An important issue that is often forgotten in the excitement of signing up for a new business opportunity is whether the company will give you, on an ongoing basis, the sales materials and brochures to help you in selling their products. You should also find out before signing what training program they will be delivering to you, and whether you will have someone to go to should any questions arise.
Product research is absolutely necessary. Is there a good sized market for them? Are they competitively priced? How do those who have previously bought the products feels about them? If you determine that the products are overpriced or not popular with those who have used them, you will clearly be facing an uphill battle in selling them. Also, what about the company itself?. How long have they been in business? Are they just getting started in business or do they have a good track history of success?
Of course you should carefully examine the compensation structure being offered. In order to be able to enjoy a nice residual income, you should be reasonably satisfied that you will be able to build a decent sized downline beneath you. If the company's network marketing structure has been around for a long periods of time, that may be good or bad. Good, because it evidences a stable organization, but it could nevertheless be bad, for it might indicate that the business opportunity element of the business may be saturated already. Try to speak with some other people who have recently joined up and see how they are doing.
It is imperative that you review the companys contract in detail, before you sign. In particular, size up what you will be required to pay the company. Are there monthly payments required? Monthly minimum purchases of products? And importantly, if you or the company later terminates the contract, what are your obligations?
With a small amount of luck you should be able to find a network marketing business opportunity that meets most of the requirements we have addressed above. Keep focused on the most important points: look for a business that excites you and whose products have a ready market; where you will be given marketing and training advice as you need them; which provides a good compensation structure; that gives you a reasonable chance to create your own downline; and where you wont be financially stressed.
